A Country This Big

Holy Shit.  What the hell was that?   That was nuts.  I mean, granted,  great television,  but I am now terrified about how we are seen by the rest of the world.  Grandpa Joe,  who should be home in bed with Grandma Josephine, Grandma Georgina and Grandpa George waiting on Charlie and his golden ticket, is being escorted around with the nuclear football.  His debate performance was insane!  It proved everything everyone on the right has been claiming for four years.  The left is coming to a “Hell no Joe won't go!” moment.  Trump has spent all of his energy attempting to get Joe out of office and now the Dems may try to beat him to it!

I marveled at the fact that in a country this big, 300+ million people, that this is it.  This is it.  This is all we have.  We can’t do any better than these guys.  I like Trump.  I will vote for him absolutely, one hundred percent.  But that won't assuage  my feeling that if you can't drive past a certain age, operate heavy machinery, or operate on people, you shouldn't be in possession of the nuke codes.  Age limits for the presidency should be looked at going forward in the next Congress.  If you can't vape when your 16 you can’t make decisions for the entire nation when your this side of 90.

They can't replace him fast enough and the choices aren’t pretty.  The dream candidate, Michelle Obama isn't budging for now.  She’s seen the price to pay for political ambition and is unwilling to pony it up.  Then there’s the governor of California Gavin Newsome.  His state has been managed into the toilet and is incredibly problematic no matter which way you look at it.  It is this close to having Social Workers at the border with welcome packets.  During COVID when the state was locked down, he was out at the French Laundry for a nice dinner.  When everyone was homeschooling their kids, his were off at private school.  If there's a poster for Pretty White Boy privilege, he’s it.  And you can't look past the Black Female Vice President, Kamala,  for that guy.  Speaking of Kamala, they are afraid she would lose to Trump worse than Joe.  Every speech or event she has sounds like it was written like when I was in high school trying to meet a minimum word count for a term paper.  There aren’t a lot of Hail Mary options out there.  If anything they appoint a designated loser to try and protect the down ballot.

The actual debate itself was just plain crazy.  Twelve minutes in when Joe claimed he beat Medicare I'm pretty sure Melania was pulling up drapes in her Amazon account to begin the White House remodel.  There were moments in that debate when Joe was just staring off into space.  Like he was waiting for the Westworld night crew to take him back to the lab for tune-ups.  Trump for his part took whatever advice he was given to let the magic happen.  If your opponent is trying to destroy himself step aside and let nature take its course.  As it turns out, turning off the microphones may have been a boon for the former President.  Very much like when they made the mistake of banning him from Twitter.  When you take away his ability to just go off on people, it turns down the rhetoric coming from him, and makes him look even more Presidential.

The problem for Joe is we all have Grandparents.  And every person on the planet knows the looks he was giving off.  For most of us, this is the time to sit down and start discussing how we are going to make our older family members comfortable and able to enjoy the last years of the ride.  Most of us don't try to find ways to get them back into the office with the most consequential decisions on the planet to be made.

The fear the left has of Trump is directly analogous to the faith they have put in an empty vessel and his handlers to run the country.  They have so terrified themselves of the former they cling to the death to the latter.  The left’s lies about super fit, super smart, Joe have been laid out for all to see.  I hope for Trump’s sake they believe the post-debate spin and keep Joe in.  That would ensure a Trump victory.  I hope for Joe’s sake they get him out.
